Snow day

 Is there anything better than sitting under blankets in front of a fire while sipping coffee and watching it snow?

If there is, I don't know what it would be at the moment. 

The temperatures dropped in the single digits last night, and we woke up to three inches of snow. It's snowed pretty much all day; sometimes it's only a light misting of snow, but it's still snow. I don't care how many times I see days like today, I'll always find them peaceful and gorgeous. The little southern Louisiana kid in me still gets excited to see snow. 

Mister, on the other hand, is a completely different animal. Where I get excited, he gets downright crazed. He truly turns into a gigantic toddler romping around in the snow. He's currently playing his football game on the PS5 and pouting because our daughter is napping instead of sledding with him outside. I believe the fact that it's just a balmy 13 degrees is the only reason why he is still inside.  The silly man keeps walking to the window to stare out longingly at the untouched field of white in our backyard before commenting that it is "pretty freaking cold".

Now, on the other hand, you have me. I am excited to see all that fluffly white stuff, but I prefer to see it strictly from the inside of my house, where it is dry, warm, and there is no wind. My perfect snow day is warm blankets, books, puzzles, and loads of warm drinks like coffee or tea. 

I think that's how I will spend most of the weekend, if not at least half the week, until this weather finally starts moving out of here. I might all do some baking, something about cold snowy days makes me want to be in the kitchen baking. I have some canned yams and some Bisquick that needs to be used. A quick sweet bread sounds like a perfect addition to this weather. 

I may go do that later while Mister and the teen go sledding with some friends. Also, while they are gone, I need to start some lima beans for dinner and do a pick up of the kitchen before we have company this evening. 

Yep, it's shaping up to be the most perfect day.
